I.F. Separated

I may have been reading too many fairytales lately, but this is what came to mind for this weeks' Illustration Friday.

I.F. Brigade

I haven't done illustration friday in a LONG time. When I would find out the word of the week, I would put it off till later because I thought that I would have the time to work on it. But I didn't. This time I decided to get to work right away.

With the holiday season here, I have decided to create a digital artpiece of a clothespin soldiers brigade, lining up to go on the tree ;) Probably because I still need to finish decorating my tree.
Enjoy!

IF - Ferocious

This week the word for Illustration Friday is ferocious. I decided to try something a little different...
In all honesty, I've been watching a lot of sci-fi recently and have wondered why shows are not more creative with their alien beings. This week's word gave me a chance to explore this curiosity.

I.F. - Boundaries

I didn't do Illustration Friday last week. Thought about it too hard, then got too busy. However, I've finished early for this week! I thought that I'd try a digital piece this time. I couldn't decide between the two pictures so I posted both of them. I like the close up, but I like the text in the other one too. Click on the pictures for a larger view.

Many people are afraid to think outside of the boxes they have created for themselves.

This art was based off of a sketch I did in a moment of frustration a few years ago. When I found out this week's topic, this sketch immediately came to mind.

I.F. Disguise

I had a few other ideas, but I finally settled on this one. I was inspired by Women At Risk International, a non-profit organization who rescues and protects women and children from human trafficking/sexual slavery, showing them that they were created for more and restoring purpose and dignity in their lives. So many women all over the world are regularly abused and yet no one hears their cries. Even Hollywood's portrayal of what a woman should be is misleading so many young women today. We are walking around looking for love and filling the unending void in our hearts with regret after regret while never truly feeling loved or understanding what our purpose is. This picture is a portrayal of new found hope and beauty, not base off of the world's skewed standard of beauty, but the purity of what it is to be a woman, true beauty with a purpose, inside and out, worth so much to our Creator.

My other ideas for 'disguise' are below.

I.F. Influence

I'm cutting it close this week. The word is "Influence."

People are often driven by the influence of money and time. No one wants to to take a day off for fear of losing money or 'not doing something useful.' In our society we are constantly moving, constantly driven to be efficient and productive. The reality is that we can't go on like that for too long or we'll break. We all need time to relax and enjoy life. To enjoy God's creation. To just be...

We all need peace instead of chaos.

The original idea I had for "Influence" is a father and son. Fathers have such a huge influence on their sons and I just appreciate those who stick around to care for them. To truly care and set a good example.

Some Older Illustrations

I was going through my art and sketches and found these gems. I did the first about 6 years ago and the other two about 5 years ago.

IF - Swell

This week the inspiration hit me early. I have many friends and family who have just had a baby, are about to have a baby, or are hoping to have a baby soon. What do babies do to stomachs? They make them swell. Every heard the phrase "Swollen with child." Awkward but true.

The weird thing is that pregnant women often feel ugly and fat instead of the beautiful nurturers they are. This is a tribute to all the preggo women out there. You are beautiful!

Illustration Friday - Obsession

Lately I've had trouble feeling motivated to do art. Today I heard about this cool website called Illustration Friday (IF). Basically they give you a word every Friday and you draw your interpretation of it. IF is there to motivate and challenge artist of every skill level. Exactly what I need. As soon as I finish my illustration, I can post a link to this blog in IF's page. Simple enough. This week's word is Obsession. Here I go!
